Summer. I’m too distracted to paint! As a member of Wild Ones–an organization dedicated to “Healing the Earth one yard at a time”– I have been spending time by Lake Nokomis volunteering on the community Naturescape. This is a fabulous native wildflower garden that is right along the walking path on the east side of Lake Nokomis. Look for it on your next walk around that lake. The Naturescape is also the site for the annual Minneapolis Monarch Festival. This year, the festival will be held on Saturday, September 12. Another “Don’t Miss.”
My bees are humming along in my apiary out in Inver Grove Heights. This is my daughter holding a nice frame of bees. Combining this with my time working on some local community gardens (there are weeds to be pulled this time of year!), I must say I am quite content despite the weeder’s backache. BUT, BACK TO ART!
I have several new works “inspired by nature” (such a well worn phrase) that are available at the lovely Abode Gallery in equally lovely Stockholm, Wisconsin. Stockholm is located on Lake Pepin, a spectacular weekend day trip destination about an hour’s drive from the Twin Cities.
My next art crawl in the Northrup King Building in NE Minneapolis is Art Attack in November, 2015. Hope to see you there, or “out in the field.”
